Sid Sriram has announced an array of US tour dates in early 2019, with plans to hit cities like Austin, New York, and Boston. We know you are more excited than us at the moment, however, in case you’re still contemplating on whether or not to attend his gig, here are 13 reasons why you should block the dates on your calendar at the earliest:
1. Feel the feels
Sid’s debut album, Entropy is a deeply personal album and as he describes the experience, “The album is a journey. It takes people to different emotional textures, my memories and I want them to join me on the same journey.” Hence, you are surely guaranteed to have a second-to-none experience!
2. New music
If you haven’t heard “It Isn’t True” or “6 Weeks” yet, go give it a listen because Sid will be bringing the complete album to life with his celestial voice. No matter how many times you watch Sid perform live, each gig is unique in its own way.
3. Entropy is more than “just” an album
Entropy’s tracklist is a culmination of Sid’s critically acclaimed Carnatic music history; Indian cinema; and hip-hop, rock, pop, and old-school soul influences. If you think Sriram is only capable of delivering music for one particular mood, come down to the show and be prepared to be proven wrong.
4. Sid Sriram 2.0?
You might have seen him live or on the Internet before but this tour will expose Sid’s never-before-seen side. He looks to expand on his classical, South Indian roots, and combine pop and R&B elements on the new record in the form of Entropy due to release in February 2019.
5. Full of surprises
Wait, don’t be disheartened, even though the performance will be centered on his album, you never know, he might just drop in his collaboration with Rahman or a verse from Rajnikanth’s latest blockbuster in the middle of his set. Make sure you’re there on time!
6. Stellar venues
Each location has been diligently curated keeping in mind Sid’s up-close approach towards music while providing the audience with an unforgettable encounter with him!
7. Unparalleled visuals
According to the 28-year-old singer, visuals add a dimension to any live performance and for this particular tour, Sid has designed the visuals from scratch – “The visuals have been created to help the listener transport into my universe and step into my mind in sync with the music.”
8. Connect with others over music
Sometimes living away from your homeland can be a harrowing experience but fret not, come down and connect with more people with similar (read – awesome) musical taste! “Culture is an integral part of my life and it would be more than amazing to see people come together and bond over my music,” says Sriram.
9. Full body reset
Take a break from your hectic schedule and instead of getting wasted over the weekend, get in touch with your inner-self by immersing in the positive energy because there’s all love, no hate in Sid’s own words. “I think I make music for those who are in need of some healing. Producing and performing music is my form of release; I want to create experiences that allow people to feel through a spectrum of emotions,” says Sriram.
10. Legit live show
Have you ever been to a show and been disappointed by the fact that the singer was simply lip-syncing? Well, this time you’ll listen to Sid and his band LIVE! No strings attached, promise.
11. There’s something for everyone
Sriram was raised on a dynamic, rich foundation of South Indian Classical (Carnatic) music; this form is his creative framework and anchor. He grew up soaking in the music of legendary artists such as Stevie Wonder, Donny Hathaway, Jeff Buckley, The Beatles, and Luther Vandross; these influences have defined his artistic evolution. Delving into a variety of genres, Sriram has played with diverse elements in each of the songs on Entropy making them sound different yet keeping his exhilarating identity intact all throughout.
