Editor's Pick of The Week - April 20, 2018

Every Friday, hundreds of new songs reach the world’s ears for the first time.

The FOMO can be overwhelming… but that’s where the Saavn editors come in. We listen to it all — every single track, from every single album.

Then we curate a fresh playlist featuring the very best new songs from across the world, to give you the best possible listening experience.

Listen Now to our Editor’s Pick of the Week.

This week we received a one-off single from Machinedrum, a nu-disco album from Krystal Klear, two surprisingly electrifying singles from Lykke Li, and fantastic music from Courtney Barnett, Shout Out Louds, The Buttertones, and many others. Below, we delve into a track-by-track review of the tunes that stood out.

1. Machinedrum.jpg

Machinedrum – Hype Up

Machinedrum (real name Travis Stewart) is back with a brand-new standalone single for 2018, “Hype Up.” Released via Ninja Tune and following on from a string of excellent singles throughout 2017, “Hype Up” continues with Stewart’s signature chopped up, high energy sound.

2. Shout Out Louds.jpg

Shout Out Louds – In New Europe

Alternative pop band Shout Out Louds go dancing with the new single, “In New Europe.” This ecstatic release is full of grooving rhythm, a heavy bass line and dreamlike synth waves. This brand-new song is literally music to our ears — we weren’t expecting it, since they only released their fifth studio album, “Ease My Mind,” last autumn.

3. Nines Crop-Circle-English-2018-20180418150659-500x500.jpg

Nines – Crop Circle

The London rapper continues to delight his loyal fan base with each track on this album. On ‘Crop Circle,’ he talks about his journey from the streets to becoming a star.

4. sad-girl-English-2018-20180412011750-500x500.jpg

Sasha Sloan – Sad Girl

A recent addition to the RCA Records family, Sloan slays with her modern take on R&B. Prior to formally launching her solo career, Sloan co-wrote songs for artists including Charli XCX and Camila Cabello.

Lykke Li – hard rain and deep end

Lykke Li drops two new songs, “hard rain” and “deep end.” It’s the first time we’ve seen her music being infused with elements of electronic music. Her melancholic voice is nothing short of magical — and we hope that her fans will share our enthusiasm for her experiments in a more electronic direction.
