Goa Sunsplash is back and here's why you should be at this Reggae festival

Founded by Reggae Rajahs in 2016, Goa Sunsplash has become the final destination for reggae fans; thanks to its impeccable lineup, eyegasmic setup on exquisite Goan beaches and the focus on creating a 360-degree experience through multiple art forms.

Here are our reasons why you should be at the Goa Sunsplash festival during 12-13 January 2019:

Starstudded lineup
This edition will host international artists like dub act Egoless; legendary duo of Mikey Dread and Jah T, Channel One; the illustrious beatboxer, Dub FX; French dub producer Damalistik; Tel-Aviv selector and Stamp the Wax editor, Zipporah; Irish singer Cian Finn; Jamaican radio jockey ZJ Liquid, to name a few, who will create moments that you can never re-live. Quite literally.

Check out the complete lineup here.

Anthony B’s Indian debut
He deserves a special mention because his career boasts over 1000 singles in a span of 14 years! The ‘original fireman’ is bound to get you high on music, backed by Austria’s House of Riddim. Be a part of history in the making.

Something for everyone
With three different stages, each having their distinct sound, you will never have a dull moment anywhere on the festival grounds. The largest stage, Arambol Grove, will see an array of live bands; Lions Den, powered by the handbuilt 10,000 Lions Sound System with BFR Sound System, will showcase selectors and MCs; and DJs will keep the party going at Mandrem Verandah, overlooking the Arabian Sea.

Beyond the sound
If the unparalleled lineup isn’t enough, then a Jamaican dance workshop by Craig Black Eagle, dub yoga, capoeira, drum circles, sound healing, and discussions relating to sound system culture will surely help you make up your mind! As a cherry on the top, there will be also a specially curated Jamaican food menu!

Come closer to the culture
Bob Marley’s contribution to reggae both as a musical genre and a way of life is incomparable but stereotypes have limited people to not think beyond dreadlocks, the red, gold, and green. Donisha Prendergast, the granddaughter of Bob and Rita Marley, will be at the festival to share stories on Rastafari culture and her family’s legacy! Isn’t that exciting?

Desi talent
Goa Sunsplash has outdone its previous editions every time with a jaw-dropping lineup and this year is no different. Like always, alongside the international superstars making their way to the Western Ghats, are our Indian acts including Delhi Sultanate and Begum X; hip-hop outfit Bombay Bassment; Hyderabad-based DJ Dakta Dub; Goa’s very own, bossmen Reggae Reggae and many more will treat you with fresh sounds all throughout.

Lastly, be free
“Reggae comes from a place of oppression. It has traditionally been used by people to fight against the system that holds them back. This is music with a message of peace, love and unity,” says Zorawar Shukla, the festival founder and we couldn’t agree with him more.
